Marvelously Melanated Magazine (or MM Mag for short) is a bi-monthly digital and print magazine based in the USA and dedicated to showcasing small businesses, products, fashion designs, and more. Our aim is to provide equal opportunity for all and help small businesses reach and expand their potential.
Each page of MM Mag is a celebration of hardworking marvels who have more than earned their place in the spotlight. There are countless other deserving marvels who go unrecognized day to day. Send them our way, and be sure to give them some love when you can. Remind them that they are marvelous, as are you!
Established in June 2020 with the first publication in July, Marvelously Melanated is a young magazine with sky high dreams and determination to see melanated marvels from across the country honored for their dreams and determination.
Why the title?
The whole purpose of Marvelously Melanated Magazine is to promote businesses who need and deserve more recognition.
This magazine began within a social media group of black businesses, the businesses that, unfortunately, fall to the wayside more often than not, even within the black community itself. Seeing this issue that desperately needed (and still needs) fixing, I created MM, a magazine that showcased black owned business, not to exclude any group of people from the spotlight but to include the black business community into the same spotlight, as black businesses as a whole needed the most help. Even in the 21st century, the exclusion of black owned businesses by all people groups is appalling.
However, in the fight for inclusivity, exclusivity is what we want to avoid.
The truth is that we all have melanin, so as this magazine expands the title will not change. We are all marvelously melanated regardless of how this melanin of ours is expressed. We are all #marvelousmightyandmelanated, and this is what we will stand by as we support and promote small businesses and their owners. Hard work should be the sole factor when it comes to success and recognition.
